I need to know if Cisco Meraki M34 will be compatible with Cisco Aironet 3700 series access points.
IE. Can I place one Meraki M34 access point to have cloud control through the Meraki cloud but then have the rest of
the access points be Aironet 3700?

I wouldn't mix and match, could make it pretty difficult to roam between.
but my real question is why? you'd only have cloud for the MR34 not the 3700

Cisco Meraki devices automatically connect to the Cisco Meraki cloud over SSL, register with your network, and download their configuration, the aironet 3700 does not.

yeah, I understand that.
my question is more around why the mix and match?

No it won't.
Roaming to work, both controllers to be in single mobility domain & should exchange mobility information.
As Steve said, if you are deploying Meraki products where you already got WLC managed setup, try to do it at an isolated area where roaming does not become a requirement.
