Migrate WCS from Windows to Linux

I am about to migrate my WCS 5.1.64.0 from a VMware instance that are running Windows 2003 standard server to a physical box to up the performance.

I wonder if I would win additional gain by running the WCS on Linux insted of Windows.

If this could be done, can I expect the backup on Windows and restore on Linux to work?

Is there any licensing issue I should care about?

Any other things that I am missing?

We did this, backup and restore works; licensing shouldn't be a problem provided you've got the license key; As for other things, just follow the documentation exactly.

I can't speak on a performance increase as we have the appliance.
