MSE NMSP status inactive, MSE unreachable from Controller

Hi,

I want to do PoC for virtual MSE for my customer, they want to using wIPS feature with roughly 275 AP for wIPS. They already have WLC 5520 and virtual Prime Infrastructure v3.4. I'm using MSE v8.0.150 (with High End ova) to do the PoC. the existing WLC si using WLC v8.5.140.

The problem is I can't get the NMSP status become active between WLC and MSE. The NMSP status is still inactive until now.

Is there any workaround that I must do to troubleshoot this case? is anyone can help me for this case?

Thanks,

Decky

I believe there might be a bug in 8.5.140 with sending NMSPs - i did hear something, if you can log a TAC case as they will be advise.

Other than that have you confirmed that there is no ACLs/ Firewall rules blocking the NMSPs between WLC and MSE?

Hi Haydn,

There is no ACLs/ Firewall rules and WLC and MSE are on the same subnet.

I thought there is no problem with that version, because I already try it with the virtual MSE using the low end ova, there's no problem about inactivity of NMSP. But when I'm using the High end ova, the NMSP become inactive. All the parameters are using the same config. I don't know the problem is from MSE or WLC.

Do you have some workaround that I must try? I can't open the case to Cisco TAC, because its PoC activity to the client.

I already open the case via Cisco Partner Helpline but they said Cisco PDI (Planning, Desing, Implementation) service are discontinued on Jan, 18 2019.

Thanks,

Decky

If it works with the lower OVA then the issue wont be the WLC in my belief but the MSE.

I would contact the Cisco SE and have them help out get support as they the ones that benefit if the POC goes to production
