network speed on aironet 1602i-e

Hi, we have 3 of these aironet 1602i-e along with other access points that provide wifi.

I am not the person who put this up, and am taking over from a previous person so I don't know how the initial configuration was made but I was looking at these access points yesterday and noticed they were opperating in the 802.11g mode, not the 802.11n mode like they do support. And when I looked in the section of where to select the speed of the wireless signal then the options stopped at 54 Mbps.

Now I wonder why that is, why is it only using 802.11g and how can I make them use 802.11n.

I saw some old articles about a previous version (don't remember which it was) where the application of WPA security limited the mode of the access point to 802.11g, is this still true for the 1600 series?

1.  Enable WMM.

2.  WPA2/AES PSK

Before you enable 802.11n, research more on the different wireless NIC in your site(s).  There have been several known issues of wireless dropouts caused by poorly written wireless NIC drivers and 802.11n that the only way to improve the performance is to disable 802.11n.
