Dear All,
I need some help with configuring a brand new CT-2504-K9 V03 which is supposed to be shipped with IOS 7.6.120.0 which has express setup feature. AS per the quick start guide found in the box, I set to plug my laptop to port on the WLC and waited for the SYS LED to be solid green, but my laptop was not automatically assigned IP address as its supposed to. SO I proceeded with manually assigning 192.168.1.x IP for my laptop to go on the web interface of the WLC via the default IP (192.168.1.1), but it didn't load the web page. I used CDP to find out the set IP of the WLC was 0.0.0.0. So I connected it to a DHCP server and the WLC was assigned an IP of my choice. I connected my laptop to the same network, I could ping the WLC IP address but the web interface does not load.
Having given up, I bought a USB to serial converter to connect to the console port. Followed the recommended settings (setting baud rate, etc.)for connecting however I still cannot get any information via this method even. The WLC is brand new, takes few minutes to boot and the status of the LEDS stays fully lit green, indicating it has successfully booted. Can somebody please help?

That is what I was hoping to see, but my PC does not get IP assigned from the Port 2 of controller. The webpage for controller does not load.

Did you try to go through CLI & configure it via that way.
If this is not working as expected in express setup in GUI, it may come up with different version of software.

You were right, after finally managing to go through CLI, I found out it was running on older software, 7.5. Its got a manufacturing date of July 2014 written on it and it came with an older IOS, the documentation it came with had a guide for express setup and said it had 7.6 version in it.
When I contacted Cisco support they said only way I can upgrade teh software is via a service contract which I don't have. So I guess I have to live with this older firmware. Is there any way I can update the software without it costing me much, I bought it new expecting it would come with newer software.

unfortunately you should have a service contract to get the updates from Cisco.
If you know local cisco partners, approach them & see if they could help on this.
