Hello:
Can some tell me either if the three non-overlapping channels of an Aironet AP (802.11b/g) or 8 channels in 802.11 be active simultaneously to support
so I can have 3 different subnets in 802.11b/g and 8 in 802.11a. Thanks

Yes 802.11 a and b/g can co exist together because they use totally different frequencies. This is the same way how a 1200 AP with 802.11 a and b/g module works. As far as using subnets, it just depend on what SSID / VLAN you put the clients into.

Thank you sir. Just to follow up can I have 3 non-overlapping channels active in one AP 802.11b
at the same time? remeber this would mean 3x11=33 Mbps data rate. Thanks in advance.

No you can NOT! On one AP you can set only one channel to be active (at a time). Three non-overlapping channels mean that you can put 3 AP very close to each other (that they can have overlapping coverage areas - cells) and that you won't have interference between them. Subnets (IP - Layer 3)does not have anything to do with channels (radio transmission - LAyer 1) and you can create VLANs on AP independently of what channel you are using.
I hope this will help you.
Good luck,
