Policy Tag Missing/Accidentally Deleted

Greeting all,

May I know, if a policy tag is missing/accidentally deleted will it cause dropped connection/sudden disconnected from network?

We just detected that the policy tag that we used for our Corporate network seems to be missing, believing that due to human error. We unsure either this missing config is the root cause for our network issue faced where when we connect to Corporate Wi-Fi, some of our end device seems to be suddenly disconnected and re-connect again after some times.

Also, If we were to add the missing policy again into the controller:
-Are there any impacted services other than the configured SSID?
-Do we need to re-add the policy to the configured SSID in order for it to rectify or by adding the policy tag again, the existing SSID with configured tag will rewrite the tag configured on SSID?
-Are there anything that we need to take notes on before, during and after the changes

Our Controller model and version as per below:

Model C9800-L-C-K9

Version 17.9.4a

Yes that is possible because inside a Policy Profile, you  specify Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) ID, If traffic is central or local switching, Mobiliy Anchors, Quality of Service (QoS), timers, among other settings.

                          Yes

Always validate the (intended)  configuration of your C9800 controller with the CLI command
show tech  wireless and feed the output from that into Wireless Config Analyzer
(Use the command denoted in green, do not use a simple show tech-support for WirelessAnalyzer)

Hello @Emyr_Dyne,
Yes, a missing policy tag on the C9800 can cause SSID mapping issues, leading to dropped or unstable connections. Re-adding the tag won’t auto-bind it to the SSID—you’ll need to reassign the policy tag to the affected APs or WLANs. No other services are impacted unless they rely on that tag. Always verify tag-to-SSID bindings and AP mappings after changes.
