I recently bought this Aironet, which I hope to use to connect an old MacPro to a wireless network.
I have been through the motions of resetting it (hold down Mode, plug in to power, wait until Status shows amber, then wait). I understand that this, amongst other things, sets the IP of the device to 10.0.0.1. I have then set the IP of the MacPro to 10.0.0.14 (I think I have read that it should be the same as the AP's except that the last portion should be different.) I then launch a web browser (I have tried Brave, Safari and Firefox) and type 10.0.0.1 into the Site box and press Enter. I expect this to connect to the AP's set-up facility. Instead I am told that I am not connected to the internet. (I have in the past successfully followed a similar procedure for a Tenda AP.) (In case Windows is needed for this procedure for the Cisco, I tried much the same with an XP laptop, and fared no better. But the XP laptop objected to the subnet mask being left blank, and put in 255.)
Looking for clues, I have at this stage started a Macbook and (with Option pressed) clicked on the Wifi status icon, which then gives a list of available Wifi sources including Tsunami (the name I see referred to in Cisco documentation as associated with the AP). Several of its statistics are shown, including an IP reading 169.254.237.116. This surprises me, but I am rather out of my depth in trying to understand the intricacies involved.
I would be grateful for any guidance or suggestions. Many thanks, Andrew.

I was not sure what you trying to achieve here.
are you looking AP1230B to configure use as a normal Wireless connection with SSID ?
i don't think the AP supports ME to act as a controller, its LWAPP so it required a controller.
below guide help and model can support ME.

Thank you for your response. Yes, I hope to connect an old computer (2008 MacPro) to a specific SSID. The problem is in configuring the AP. The instructions for doing so include:
"To enable the radio interfaces, follow these instructions: Use your internet browser to access your access point.
At the prompt, enter the administrator username and password. The default username is Cisco and the default password is Cisco. The username and password are case sensitive."
My problem is that I cannot access the access point from a browser. I need to know the access point's IP address, and I need to know what to type in for the computer's IP (and perhaps subnet mask).

connect the console to AP, and post complete boot logs
