You have an Lightweight access point the LAP in the part number is the clue. there is no GUI access to this version, you need a 2600 or 4400 controler to use this AP. this AP can also be loaded with Autonomus mode software there are detailed papers on the Cisco web site explaining how to convert the 1242 from Light weight to autonomus and back. an autonomous AP can operate independantly and is managed by the GUI or CLI. the light weight AP configuration is limited to the IP configuration and setting the IP address of the controller, this cna be done using Option 43 along with DHCP.

If you have an LAP-1242 you need a Cisco controller to manage it in lightweight mode. if someone set a static IP then you need to reset the AP by holding in the rest switch and applying power.
the following reference should get headed in the right direction.

good luck

DHCP is default, but since it is LWAP, this ap will not work for you. You need to exchange it or convert from LWAPP to IOS.
