Dear All

Could you please help to share how to configure the C9105AXW access point on 5520 WLC (version 8.10.181.3) to connect the Cisco POE phone? Meanwhile, on the switch port configuration, shall we configure it as the trunk port? If yes, shall we add the voice QOS on the trunk port? If it's possible, please help to shall the configuration on the switch port.

Thank you.

Hi,

You can connect your IP Phone to LAN1 port (POE power 802.3af) in the AP, but you have to make sure that the AP is powered with POE+ (802.3at). You can use this config guide for RLAN Cisco Wireless Controller Configuration Guide, Release 8.10 - AP Power and Uplink LAN Connections [Cisco Wireless LAN Controller Software] - Cisco

If not if you have 2 cables running to the place where the AP is connected you can connect the second cable to the passive passthrough port in the back of the AP and connect the phone to the pass-through port in the base of the AP directly. In this case phone will be directly connected to the switch logically as AP pass though port is passive.

Also note that in 5520 only 9105AXW: VID 04 and earlier is supported. So make sure that you check this before placing the order.

Thank you so much for your help, Arshad

The version of our 9105axw is VID 02, so it should work.

In fact, I tested with the Dome that Cisco borrowed to us with the code 8.5.182 in January, and it was working well with the Cisco phone.

We just got few 9105axw which we ordered one year ago, and tested with the new code (8.10.181.3) on the 5520. The phones can get the correct power and IP address,  but could not connect to the Cisco call manager. It looks like that the phone could not find the tftp server which we setup the option 150 on our DHCP server.

I used the same configuration on our 5520 and switch port which I tested with the Demo 9105axw in January. Could you please help to analyze the reason?

Thank you, and have a nice day.
