Radio 5Ghz for 9166D1-ROW Access points is not working.

Dear all,

 

  There are 2 Access Points model 9166D1-ROW registered in a Cisco Catalyst 9800-CL Wireless Controller firmware 17.12.3. These APs looks like that are not emitting 5Ghz signal because no devices connect in 5Ghz frequency the devices connect only 2.4Ghz frequency. I can see in the 2.4Ghz Radios the option Operation Status up but to the 5Ghz Radio the option Operation Status down.

 

Has anyone had a similar problem and managed to solve it?

  -   - @remacamelo   Verify the state of the AP country provisioning on the AP CLI with show controllers dot11Radio 1 to display the -ROW domain and the country to which the AP is assigned :
                            Look for this  line in the output :
                                          >...
                                          >Carrier  Set:

   Because when  the -ROW access points that do not have a country code assigned the -ROW AP has its 5ghz radio shut down and the 2.4ghz radio operates on standard channels and lower power to avoid any country rule violation.

Thank you for your replay. I tried apply the command show controllers dot11Radio 1 but in the WLC I couldn't find this syntaxesWLC Image.jpg

I work with Cisco Catalyst 9800-CL Wireless Controller.

 

I applied the command sh ap name (AP NAME) dot11 5ghz radio-reset stats and I received this output:

What can I do in this case?

 

  - @remacamelo     You need to apply the command  show controllers dot11Radio 1   on the  access point  CLI
                                not the WLC. Further on make sure to assign a join profile to the access point

can I have the 'show tech wireless' output from the WLC in a text file?

Thank you for the explanation. I performed the command correctly now and the result is:

Radio Info Summary:
=======================
Radio: 5.0GHz
Carrier Set: (-RW) Brazil ( BR)
Base radio MAC: C4:18:FC:23:43:00
Supported Channels:

There are no supported channels.

 

 - @remacamelo  Do you have that country code provisioned in the join profile assigned to the AP. It must also be specified in the global controller configuration (?)

Please check if country code is configured under AP join profile.

@remacamelo  As per your problem description ,

  • AP model: C9166D1-ROW
  • Controller: Catalyst 9800-CL, version 17.12.3

Observations:

  • 2.4 GHz Radio → Operational Status: Up
  • 5 GHz Radio → Operational Status: Down
  • Clients connect only on 2.4 GHz

Can you please share below output from WLC CLI.

show wire country configured
show ap dot11 5ghz rf-profile summary
show ap slots | i <AP NAME>
show ap dot11 5ghz summary | i <AP NAME>
show ap name <AP NAME> config slot 1
show ap name <AP NAME> dot11 5ghz slot 1 radio-reset stats
