Repeater limit: hops or leafs?

Starting with the following configuration

AP Root ---- Rpt 1 ---- Rpt 2

I know that available throughput will be divided by two if we add one more repeater to Rpt 2

Question: Is the effect the same when you add several repeater “leaves”, such as Rpt 3 and Rpt4?

As this is a shared medium, with every link added your bandwidth or throughput halves. So even in the second scenario, the effect will be the same.
