Hi all,

We may need 2 nos of Access Points and 3 to 5 nos of USB Network Adapters

for Desktops. Please look at the requirements below. We would like to know

about Cisco products which can meet these requirements.

The purpose is to implement a automated test solution for WLAN Access Points

and so we need the devices to have the User interface such as CLI and

support SNMP or Telnet, etc.

Requirements:

1. WLAN Access Point (Dual Band):-

A. Should support 802.11 a/b/g standards

B. Should have upto 8 ports

C. Should support Command Line Interface (CLI) accessible over Telnet or

other interfaces

D. Should have an independent wired LAN port

2. Network Adapters for Desktops:-

A. Should support 802.11 a/b/g standards (separately 802.11a and 802.11

b/g OR all combined)

B. Should be able to connect to USB ports

3. Others:-

A. Indoor usage

B. should not be high end devices, which might result in high device cost

C. CLI support on Access Points is mandatory

4. Additionally please let us know if any Access Point which can support

802.11n standard

and compatible with both 802.11a and 802.11b/g standards.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Jachowda,

I'll try to assist the best as possiable

If looking for cisco products here are my thoughts

1. Cisco 1131 (AIR-AP1131AG-A-K9)is a\b\g

1a.Cisco 1232 is a\b\g

1b.Cisco 1242 is A\b\g

a/d. I have never seen a Access point with more than two ports, one for console and one for ethernet.

b. most AP's have both a GUI and CLI interface

2.Cisco offers PCMCIA and PCI cards but never seen a Cisco USB (i have from Linksys though)they offer two types one for a\g and one for b

3. Cisco equipment is well in the high end costing any where from $480 to $700 (USD)for just one access point.

4. the only access point that i am aware of tat Cisco offers for N is the Aironet 1250 which does a\b\g\n

Since you are testing defiently make sure that you get a site survey of your facility. due to if your facility is very large you might want to go with a different senerio.
