RF Leader RRM - 9800 and 5520

Currently have 3 large site which are all high density APs.

1 site is controlled by a 9800 which was recently running co existence with a 8500 up to couple of weeks ago.

Other 2 sites are supported by 5520s, with 2800APs, running the latest code.

(Don’t have uplift licence for 2800AP to move to 9800)

I’m just installing 9800s on to these 2 sites, these will run in coexistence with 5520.

This is due to support new buildings.

Because of these new buildings the 5520s and 9800 will be in the same RF Domain, the 5520 will be the RF Group leader.

When I ran the 9800 and 8500 together, even though I had some Policy Tags configured with 40Mhz, this didn’t work while the 8500 was the RF Leader as wasn’t running 40Mhz on that.

I’m wondering as the 5520 is on a higher code than a 8500 was, will  the 5520 Limit the 9800 to 20Mhz only like the 8500 did?

Some of the buildings will be miles away, so if I create separate Site tag for these, I would like them to run at 40Mhz.

Or would it be worth the 9800 being the RF Leader?

@craiglebutt Take a look at this, might provide some insights on your questions.  Testing would be the prefered way to figure out what does work and what doesn't.
