All,
Using 1200 APs with non-Cisco clients.
Roaming of problems between several ACCESS POINTS
I am using WEP-128 - TKIP encryption.
What could be the problem
Environment:
In order to ensure a surface covering of an entire floor, the AP`s (1-3) was distributed one behind the other on a floor.
The AP's different channels assigned (1, 7, 13) this installation continues at many floors,
The floors are one above the other.
For this with the AP`s the same channels were used, distributed however differently on the floor.
Assigned components: (per floor)
3x Cisco AP 1231g-e-k9 ( 12.2(8)JA ) with in each case 1x of attached antenna Air-ant5959
Assigned tray PC ( XP
Motion Computing (M1400c 900MHz)
Wlancard: Intel pro W 2200BG 802.11b/g Centrinion driver version: 8.1.0.28)
Communication:
The user uses tray PC`s (XP) with inserted wl to maps.
The communication way is as down described:
Client tray PC - > ACCESS POINT - > SWITCHES - > Firewall - > server farm.
After the authentication of the Clients with the AP, a VPN connection (Cisco VPN 4,6,0) is developed to the Firewall.
Over the Firewall that is then manufactured access to the server farm.
Problem:
1.
The Client accesses a Citrix server.
Here a session comes to breaks with the access and/or during.
The connection breaks off and must again be manufactured.
2.
The Client`s partly announces itself to a AP, which is even on another floor!
(a floor more highly and/or more deeply)
3.
The Roaming does not function perfectly.
The Client enters the floor and it connects itself with the AP1 if it however the floor runs off and it at AP2 and AP3 comes past, remains it nevertheless still at the AP1 connectet.
(even if it stands under the AP3 remains it at AP1 connected).
Thus it has naturally a bad signal strength and/or speed.
Who can help me ?

I am afraid if this is due to more that 15-20% overlap between different AP cells. Does the client adapter have a utility (just like ACU with aironet) which can specify when to switch over to another access point (Kind of like specifying a signal strength threshold)..
Also have you checked for interference on these AP? Are you getting a lot of PLCP or CRC errors ? Connection to the Citrix could break due to this. Also is communication to the rest of the network work properly when the client roams or is it a common behaviour to any network traffic from the client ?

I fear also which we an overlap of the Channels have.
I consider the transmitting power to the ACCESS POINTS to reduce
and also the Client power at the ACCESS POINT to limit.
The users use mainly a software on a Citrix the servers access.
Over problems with other server accesses me nothing is well-known.
Unfortunately I do not have appropriate Tool for the assigned Intel pro 2200BG maps found where I,
as with the ACU Tool, which can give signal strength.
