Hello, I am trying to configure a root AP (in bridge mode) and a separate Mesh AP (also set as bridge mode). The mesh AP has parent of root AP xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xf.
However the Mesh AP is not able to join with root AP. The final result that I require is to "extend" internet connection from root to mesh AP across a small building where no copper lines are able for DSL. The mesh AP will be connected to a POE switch and user's desktop connected to the switch as opposed to using wifi adapter. Hope this scenario makes sense. Both APs are model AIR-CAP2602E-Z-K9. WLAN Controller is 5508.

Whenever I setup mesh even with indoor access points, I first would make sure hey join to the WLC and come up in the run state. Then I would enter the MAC address of each RAP/MAP in the Mac filter list of the WLC. Once I get that far, then I would configure the mesh parameter and set the BGN. After this, you now set both access points from local to bridge and define the Root AP and Mesh AP. I would not set the parent yet. Once they both come back up, I then would disconnect the Mesh AP and power it up on an adapter or PoE switch in which the AP can't join the controller. This way the Mesh AP has to find he RAP and establish a connection. Once I verify that the MAP has successfully associated with the RAP, now you can define the parent AP if you wish, but with one RAP, it's doesn't make sense to do that. Now you know you have a good configuration and the AP's have formed a mesh. Now you can move the RAP and MAP to the location it needs to be.
If if now the two can't form a mesh, then you need to look at the backhaul and make sure that there is line of site and the distance is not too far away unless your using high gain antennas.
