is it the correct practise to set the wlc and the ap in the same vlan? in my previous implementations i noticed that when i set the ap and the wlc in the same vlan they wont see each other? i usually separate the ap in a different vlan and set the dhcp option to point to the wlc?

You can do in both ways. Its also depends on your infrastructure.

My personal recommandation is to use in same vlan but you could do in both ways.

If there are more than 60+ ap’s then I prefer to not have the aps on the same subnet. Typically I like to keep AP’s in a separate subnet and keep the wlc in the management subnet.

There are a bunch of ways to allow the so to find the WLC so its not a big deal.
