Hi everybody,

i wanna make site survey to deploy 3702I, but it don't have that device so i took from our store 1602I, i think both has the same internal antenna db(4 for both 2.4&5 GHZ).

my question is about the transmit power; there are scales such as 7, 10 or full.

which scale i have to select.

the customer wnat to cover the hospital by voice design.

please your usual assisstance.

The reason for doing a site survey is taking the guess work out of the project for as much as possible. If your planning is to do more survey's in the feature I would advice you to buy some access-points yourself with a few external antennas. If you are a Cisco partner you can do this with the NFR budget. Is it for now not possible to borrow a 3700 AP from the customer or buy one yourself in advance?

In your pre-deployment survey you should verify the following things:

  • Are there sources of interference on the 802.11b/g/n/ and/or 802.11a/n/ac frequency (whatever your client device is going to use, for voice this is most of the times 802.11a/n/ac)
  • Where is coverage needed? (It is voice, so don't forget stairways for example!)
  • What is the power output of your client device? (Use this value as the maximum power on the access-point to protect against one-way audio. With Cisco's phones this is 16dBm which is the same as 40mW)
  • Minimal RSSI (for voice most of the times at least -67dBm, from two access-points for roaming)
  • Minimal SNR (for voice most of the times at least 25dBm)
  • Minimal datarate (for voice most of the times 12Mbit/s on the 802.11a/n/ac)

If you use software like Ekahau you can specify all of the above settings and select the client device so that the software can use this information in it's calculations. Last but not least do a survey when the network is operational to check all of the above and make changes when needed.

I have a very large hospital network wig thousands of 7925 voice handsets.

We survey UNII 1 channel, 12.5mw, -65 cell using the handset checking the delta on AirMagnet ..
