Hi,
Can i have advices on the new model to purchase, in order to replace my 1602 APs ?
Currently i'm working with 1120/1140/1600 environment configured as standalones APs, with WDS services
Consulting Cisco documentation about EoL of 1600 series, i'm adviced to purchase 1852 APs to replace them.
The fact is 1852 APs does not seem to have this standalone/WDS configuration, and work with Cisco Mobility Express
I've found no way to make these 1852's enter my current wireless domain (except with a lightweight ios and a WLC), so i'm not able to extend my current wifi coverage with these AP.
Thank you for your advices !

Starting with the 8-series AP (1800, 2800, 3800 and later models), autonomous APs is being replaced with Cisco Mobility Express.

Thank you for this answer.
In fact i'm not precisely interrested in 8 series, i just took advices from cisco's eol page, recommending 1852 AP to replace 1602
If there's an AP from 6 serie still alive (and still purchasable), working with WDS, i'm interrested, but it seems 2600 are also in end of life ?

One can still purchase the 6-series in the 2nd-hand market. Trying to get TAC support and/or IOS codes, however, will be difficult.
Out of curiosity, why the reluctance to use Cisco Mobility Express?

Hi Leo, Sandeep
No reluctance at all, it's just we currently have WDS running on plants, with sometimes 30/40 APs (per plant) working on the wifi domain. I prefer to keep this domain working as long as I can, instead of having to (remotely) reconfigure all APs to make them work with Cisco Mobility Express.
During this time, i'm able to answer current needs (thanks Sandeep) with existing WDS plants, and purchase new APs to discover CME and make it work with our environment.
Thank you !
