Hi,

You will need an outage window and yes APs will need to upgarde the new image form WLC as well.

If your WLC are in HA AP SSO mode, then do this:

1. Push the firmware upgrade to the active controller. The active controller will push the firmware to the hot standby controller;

2. DO NOT REBOOT;

3. Do an AP pre-download;

4. Once the pre-download is complete, reload the pairs.

This is correct.

The APs will reload therefore you need an outage window.

Download the image to the WLC and then do the pre-download to the APs. Once they all have it then its a reboot of the controller.

If you have N+1 config do to both controllers.
