Does anyone know of a specific model that of adapter I can buy that meets the subject criteria? I cannot seem to find CCX compatability with most of the major brands and then add OS X compatability.

You would have to see what chip is being used. Here is a list of CCX compiant manufacture:

I scrubbed that site pretty hard before I posted and the issue is once you get a manufacturer there isn't enough
detail to tell you if its CCX compatible. The hardware maybe but does nothing to speak of the drivers for the device.

You are right.. You have to look at atheros, broadcom and intel chips. Atheros do have ccx compliant devices but you have to find a product the uses that chip. I know Proxim has an 802.11abgn USB. Can't tell you what Atheros card is in it without trying different firmware.

I've been looking around aswell, can't see many that are any good.
