Using C9105AXI-C under C9105AXI-EWC-C

Dear all,

We have C9105AXI-EWC-C in our stock. we are planing to purchase C9105AXI-C of 15 unit.

Plan is we want to use C9105AXI-EWC-C as a controller and 15 unit of C9105AXI-C access points under this EWC Controller.

Is this solution possible and okay. Will all features work properly (like wifi roaming and so on) Please suggest.

Regards

  - That should work if the EWC controller AP uses a compatible software version for the
C9105AXI-C access points  ;  which will usually be the case ; check https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html

However today deploying EWC is no longer the best solution https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/embedded-wireless-controller-catalyst-access-points/wireless-ewc-access-point-eol.html
Better go for a native 9800 controller , you can for instance download and deploy the 9800 virtual controller for free!

This solution is possible. But remember that EWC has been marked EOL - https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/embedded-wireless-controller-catalyst-access-points/wireless-ewc-access-point-eol.html. So if you are looking for long-run solution then controller based deployment is the one you should look for. 9800-CL can be used as well, if needed. Since in EWC, AP acts like a controller there will be few feature limitation, example SNMP and will run on limited resources.

"old stuff" is miles better than EWC.

  - @Leo Laohoo   Sorry, but I can't agree fully here ;  it might be better then EWC, but these modern APs are targeted for the
9800 platforms , including follow-up with bugfixes , new features,...
(cisco  has stopped support for Aireos  e.g. ,it's use is strongly discouraged )

As we are looking for budget friendly solution, can we use 14-15 pc of CBW150AX access point.

As i heard is can be managed from CBD for free, without any licensing.

Can a total of 15 APs in a office, be managed from a single dashboard and all necessary features will work properly ?

please suggest !
