Hi everyone,

I have several AIR-CAP2702E-B-k9 access points.

this is a 4 antenna dual band ap as I understand it.

we only want to use the 2.4G network and turn off the 5G part.

can this be done?

thanks in advance.

Hi @philip.white

That´s interesting cause everyone is going in the opposite direction. But, if you have a good reason for that, then, yes. You can disable either 2.4 or 5.0 radio as you wish.

If this AP is joined in a WLC you just need to go to Radios Config on the left hand site of WIRELESS tab.

If they are standalone APs then use the following command:

!

interface dot11radio 1

shut

 !

Thank you,

do you know how the antennas are numbered?

in one area of the plant, I only need 3 antennas.  can you turn one of them off?

I forgot to mention, I am in a restricted area, an airport is nearby.

Hi

Take a look on this documentation. Fig 1 tells you about antennas position:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/access_point/2700/quick/guide/ap2700getstart.pdf

It is perfect possible run 5.0Ghz radius near to an Airport. Cisco WLC has the hability to avoid those channels that eventually can interfere with radar by using DFS feature.

Or if you really need to avoid this even using DFS, there are channels in 5.0Ghz that is don´t have any risk to interfere with radar. It is much better to work with them then use 2.4 ghz.

If you look on the bulk head of the AP you will see A,B,C,D.

Here is a post I did for the 3700.

As Flavio points out, good response btw, +5. You can use 2.4 GHz and not worry about DFS. DFS comes into play when you use DFS channels.

Here is a quick list for your viewing pleasure.
