web auth capability/performance?

Hi,

I'm thinking of replacing BlueSocket gateways with WiSM web auth. BS dies when number of guest users aproaches around 250, while it should be able to handle 500 users. We think this was because many users have google toolbar type of applications and they constantly makes connection to their servers. BS tries to redirect them to its web auth page and it overloads web server until it becomes unresponsive. Same thing happened to our SSG system so we had to put rate limit on the web server that SSG redirects traffic to.

Does anyone know if WiSM web auth can do better?

The web auth on the controllers has significantly improved over the last few releases. You will not have this limitation with guest networking on the controllers. Make sure you are running at least 3.2.150.10 or higher (any version of 4.0 will also work). There was major problems with web-auth in previous releases.
