LWAPP, a Cisco proprietary protocol, has been superseded by the international standard called CAPWAP (Configuration And Provisioning of Wireless AP). Wireless LAN Controllers/WiSM running on firmwares 5.X and later use CAPWAP. 3.X and 4.X firmware are LWAPP.
Hope this helps.
