WLAN QoS Profile Not Tagging Frames

Sam Brynes

I have a Cisco WLC 2504 with the default QoS profiles defined (Wireless Section > QoS > Profiles). I have a WLAN tied to the Bronze (background) QoS profile.

When I did a SPAN and Wireshark on my Cisco switch, I expected to see frames with the 802.1p tag with a value of 1 (as defined by the QoS profile), but the tag was still set at 0 (BE), the default. The QoS profile for Bronze is set to the 802.1p value of 1.

Does anyone know what might be the issue? I do not have Fastlane enabled.

Hi Sam,

What QoS value trusted on switchport connected to AP & WLC ? CoS or DSCP

Now a days best practice is trust DSCP on all of these ports (earlier it was recommend to trust CoS on WLC connected turnk ports)

Here is what I observed with AireOS 7.0.x long time back (with bronze profile, it map to 802.1p value to 0)

You should watch this Ciscolive session to learn how to configure QoS on latest AireOS codes. You should not use QoS profiles/802.1p values any more.
