As far as I can find this model comes with 4 X Gigabit ports but does not support Etherchannel or LAG .. .. can someone confirm this ? I assume this is this a hardware limitation since it uses the 7.0 code as the 5508 series right ?

Correct, the 2500 does not support LAG/Etherchannel.
"An interface is a logical entity on the controller. An interface has multiple parameters associated with it, including IP address, default-gateway (for the IP subnet), primary physical port, secondary physical port, VLAN tag, and DHCP server. Since LAG is not used, each interface is mapped to at least one primary physical port and an optional secondary port. Multiple interfaces can be mapped to a single Wireless Controller port."

its CPU doesn't allow for more than 300Mbps (or is it 500 ?) of real client data throughput. So there's not much point in using the other ports anyway.
