WLC 4402 Overview/Questions

Hello,

Im having a little issue understanding the Interface layout of the 4402.

1 - Service Interface

1 - Utility Interface

2 - AP Interfaces that manage 24 AP's per interface(correct?)

So I created a VLAN just for internet only traffic.

Managment Interface is placed in this VLAN and I can access the GUI with no issues.

I would guess the AP-Managment interface needs also to be in this VLAN since it talks with the Access Points?

I read about trunking the switchport and setting the allowed vlans accross this Trunk to the WLC, but which Interface does it trunk to? AP-Manager or Management? I see i can tag those interfaces.

I appreciate the help.

1. You do not need to place management inteface and AP Management interface into the client vlan.

2. AP-Management interface is needed When AP and controller is not in the same subnet.

The following doc is good to understand those interfaces and how to configure trunking on switchport(Figure3-4)
