Hi All,

I had an issue with the WLC 5508 Controller, when i rebooted the WLC after saving the entire configurations, i lost all the current configurations when it rebooted & booted to default settings.

IOS version running on WLC

8.0.140.0 - bck up

8.2.151.0 (default) (active)

can you please help me to understand the exact issue that caused losing all the configuration from the WLC.

are you sure ..you saved the conifg of WLC ?

Cjeck again: try to create a new ssid, save the config and then reboot again ...

Check the Release Notes, could be a bug: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn82mr5.html

Hi Sandeep,

Thanks for the reply, yes i saved the configuration properly & also had back up of the WLC, before reboot.

Software Version 8.2.151.0
Field Recovery Image Version
6.0.182.0
FUS:-1.7 version.
for the WLC's.
let me know if any other information is required.

Hi,

You can try by running the backup SW version on wlc and check ifs removing the config after reboot or not!!

else......

You have a bad WLC. You will have to RMA that. Open a TAC case and tell them the issue and they will replace that with a new unit.

i got the below bug on cisco, when i was trying to look for the resolution. it says might need to upgrade FUS to 1.9 version for 5508 WLC's. please find the below link for reference.

https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCul68057

I would say..first upgrade to the recommanded stable version SW on WLC and try again.

If still fails then also update FUS 1.9 on WLC.

Please plan a downtime for it ..it may take alltogether around 1 hour.
