WLC Anchor DHCP multiple scopes

Hi,

I'm configuring a WLC's in foreign + Anchor to handle SSID's for guest access. I'm trying to use an external DHCP server for the IP assigment.

I have 3 dynamic interfaces on the WLC Anchor (one for each guest SSID). For some reason when i connect to any of the SSID's im always getting an IP from the first guest network (no matter if each dynamic interface has different vlan id). The DHCP Server has an interface in each vlan.

The Anchor and foreign Controllers have software version 8.2.166.0 installed.

What could be the cause of this behavior.

regards,

Hi everyone.

Than you all for your support. I was able to fix the issue.

At the Anchor WLC the Foreign Map for each guest SSID was missing.

WLAN / SSID / Foreing MAP (Foreign Controller Interface Mapping)

Now the user is receiving an IP addres for a particular vlan.

Hi,

1. did you configure the wlan exactly same on both controller except dynamic interface?

2. did you configured the correct DHCP IP under dynamic interface ?

Try these:

-> disabled DHCP proxy in the anchor WLC. That could fix the DHCP issue you are having.

-> also chekc if helper-address command is configured ?

Hi, thank you for your prompt response.

What do you mean for helper-addres command (on the wireless controller)?

regards,

Ip helper nee dto be configured on the switch side.

The ip helper-address command configures the device as a DHCP relay agent.  The DHCP relay agent forwards DHCP requests and replies between clients and servers when they are not on the same physical subnet.

Ok, but in my case the DHCP Server has an interface on the same subnet Im using for the SSID.

Do I need the IP Helper ?

Where you configured the DHCP scope ? on switch or on WLC itself ?

I need a clearer comparison between 1542D and 1562D in particular. This is for a Wireless bridging solution and I want to find out why 1562D will be chosen over 1542D, if we're not going for external antennas.
