WLC Client metrics

Hi,

We are trying to get Mobile Station/Clients information from WLC device via SNMP.

1) First question is on the which mib to be queried => AIRESPACE-WIRELESS-MIB or CISCO-LWAPP-DOT11-CLIENT-MIB

2) It appears that CISCO-LWAPP-DOT11-CLIENT-MIB is not reported by IOS based Controllers but AirOS controllers reported data for both AIRESPACE-WIRELESS-MIB and CISCO-LWAPP-DOT11-CLIENT-MIB.

The following comparison of these two MIBs OIDs for Mobile Stations metrics from WLC. We couldn't find one to one mapping for metrics in these mibs to be sure if AIRESPACE-WIRELESS-MIB metrics are reported then consider that otherwise consider querying CISCO-LWAPP-DOT11-CLIENT-MIB.
What are the situations when these mib attributes are reported by WLC? Does OS version matters? or OS itself (IOS or AirOS matters?

We need to understand clearly what mib attributes should be queries for WLC for both IOS and AirOS based controllers (until all customers have migrated to IOS based controllers)
Should we expect one to one mapping between these two mibs or not? or the combination of these two mibs is the only way?

MIB Attribute CISCO-LWAPP-DOT11-CLIENT-MIB MIB Attribute AIRESPACE-WIRELESS-MIB

3) We are very much interesed in tx/rx dropped bytes metrics from AIRESPACE-WIRELESS-MIB. Which is the OID to get the information?

Thanks,
ST

The status of these bugs are 'Terminated'. What does that mean?

We are seeing same issues in Catalyst 9800 series Controller running with OS version 17.12.4 which is believed to be latest.

Those bugs are terminated because Cisco has no intention of "fixing" them.  The notes on CSCwa40741 are self explanatory:
"The purpose of this is to avoid TAC cases where a customer thinks/understand that just any MIB and OID that was supported on AireOS is still supported added on 9800 by default."

Bottom line: most of the MIBs which were supported on AireOS are either not supported at all, or only partially implemented, on 9800.  Cisco have no intention of changing this.  A few of the MIBs were added for limited backward compatibility in early updates but nothing since then.
See https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/catalyst-9800-series-wireless-controllers/217460-monitor-catalyst-9800-wlc-via-snmp-with.html

As far as Cisco is concerned you should now be using telemetry and APIs.  Those are the modern supported methods for monitoring the 9800.  See:
