Hi,
I need to know is there a simple step by step method or document I can use to configure Cisco AP's and WLC controllers.
I also wanted to know light weight AP's can they be configured through CLI by putting serial cable?

Hi,
1)How many access points I can connect directly to 5508 WLC without adding a switch. Will it be 8?
2) If I want to put my access points on a switch which port I can use to make a trunk port on the switch?
3) Do I need to configure the trunk port config on the WLC as well or it will take it automatically when I put trunk config on the switch side.
4) What is service port on WLC used for?
5) On my WLC if I want to add my AP's to a switch which port do I make the trunk port out of the 8 ports in WLC?
6) Does auto sense works on WLC for eg: if i put a cross or straight cable with WLC and Switch it should work?
Sorry since I am new I need to ask you some basic questions

Zero (0).

Please take the time and read THIS.

Read THIS.

WLC ports will depend entirely on the SFP used. SFP will negotiate to only one speed.

"I also wanted to know light weight AP's can they be configured through CLI by putting serial cable?"
Lightweight APs are managed and configured via WLC. However, Your AP first needs to find WLC. Leo example above, shows how AP can find WLC by using DHCP (dhcp option 43).
Through CLI, with serial cable, You can use this command to assign WLC for AP:
"capwap ap controller IP address x.x.x.x"
