Hello,
I configured on my WLC 5508 a new Interface & VLAN . The WLC act as DHCP Proxy.
I enabled also Flex Connect local switching . Then I removed on my Switch under the
VLAN settings the IP helper because as I know the WLC act as IP helper.
What is still not clear for me is where I have to insert the DHCP server adress
on my WLC controller. Must I insert the DHCP server IP under my management Interface
or where I have to enter the DHCP server IP.
I tested this with the new VLAN interface and added the DHCP server IP but without success.

Superscopes will give you problems.... Map the ssid to the same vlan as the voice ssid and see if the device gets an ip address. This will eliminate the wireless configuration and will point to a network or dhcp issue.

You need to get ride of the superscopes as they have caused issues with a few of my clients. Clients that have a lease will not get a new ip address but will retain their own.

Well if your using FlexConnect with local switching then you need a dhcp server at the local site for the AP's to get an IP address.
If you using the WLC as a dhcp server, then in the interface you would put the management IP address for the primary dhcp server.

Thanks for your replay. I “ve configured the existing local DHCP server with the new VLAN and I added the DHCP servers IP into the new WLC interface DHCP entry but the clients don“t get an IP .

If your using FlexConnect local switching, you need to use an external dhcp server. The dhcp for the WLC is really if your doing central switching or your AP's are in local mode. You can't use the local DHCP for FlexConnect local switching.

I don“t use the WLC as DHCP Server. I use a Windows Server as a DHCP server and added these IP under Controller/Interfaces ( the new created VLAN interface ) and added as Primary DHCP server the Windows DHCP
server IP adress. But the WLAN clients don“t get an IP.

Do you have an ip helper-address configured under the L3 interface for the client subnets? If you are doing FlexConnect Local Switching the local lan is going to send the DHCP request not the WLC.

Hi,
I addedd an IP helper under the L3 configuration without success. Same, WLAN clients don“t get an IP .
I configured following:
add a new VLAN into the switch with layer 3 and addedd IP helper on the L3 switch.
add the VLAN into the WLC controller wth a new SSID and Interface for this VLAN.
Enabled Flex Connect under the SSID.
Done a test with a wired client direct on a switch without problems.
If I try to connect over the WLAN then the client don“t get an IP.

Did you go into the AP and FlexConnect and map the WLAN to the VLAN ID? and is the AP on a trunk port?

Yes, I configured the switchport as Trunk with native and allowed VLANs. Mapped also the WLAN to the VLAN ID ,. I“ve done the same for a new VoIP SSID without problems. The only differnce is for the VoIP network the DHCP server is direct located on a VG Gateway in the same VLAN. For the other new network I used our coporate DHCP server ( Superscope ) and added an IP helper on the L3 switch. But without success.

Can you share the FlexConnect configuration from one of the AP, as well as the switchport config that the AP is connected to? As well as a show vlan from the switch

Just wondering whether you tried disabling proxy as the wlc act as a relay agent.

Hi,
The problem was the Superscope. Our Serverguys created an own scope for the WLAN subnet and then it works without problems.
