Hi ,

i have three wlc'sin the network

In order to accommodate 2802i access points in the wlc(ABC) ,planning to upgrade the wlc -ABC to 8.2.151.

SIn this case  please confirm whether the anchor wlc(BBBB) needs to to upgraded to the same IOS?

Is there is any compact ability matrix between the foreign and anchor wlc?

Initially faced issue to the compactability issue between the anchor wlc and the AAAAA.

Please confirm whether we can directly upgrade to 8.2.151 from 7.4.121.

Going from an old firmware to another old firmware.
Did TAC provide this recommendation?

Hi Leo,

This suggestion is not from TAC.

There is a requirements from client end: oldest Ap-1142 and need to accomodate 2800 Ap's aswell.

that is the reason landed in 8.2.151.

Regards,

Anjana

Firstly, the final software that will support 1140 is 8.3.X.X (I know it is 8.4.X.X but I'm not here to discuss that).
Next, good luck trying to download 8.2.151.0 because it has been deferred by Cisco (and if Cisco defers a software version people need to pay attention).
Next, there are newer/more-recent release to 8.2.151.0, for example, 8.2.170.0 (release date 08 June 2018) or 8.3.150.0 (release date 16 April 2019).
Finally, did anyone read the Release Notes?

I agree with Leo. The release notes will explain the upgrade path you need to follow. You will need to be able to download the images that allow you to go to the code you want. It’s also best practice to keep your anchor wlc on the same code. Can the anchor be in different codes, yes, it shows that in the Cisco WLC Matrix, but you are taking a big jump between versions.
