WLC reboots automatically without setting any reset time

Hi,

I have very strange issue with my wireless Lan controller. It reboots automatically.

Atleast in week, it restarts once or twice.

If i want to check any historical logs , i can not check since after restarting WLC , all logs will be cleared,

I get the logs from the time it restarts , starting with

COLD STARTS :

I am predicting the issue with temperature setting

right now the Internal temperature is +43 C

How do i check , what is the threshold set for temperature.

can anybody  suggest me anything about this ?

Check for any crashinfo on the appliance.

I've never heard of any WLC that reboots by itself.  The only time a WLC reboots without any schedule or human intervention is because it's crashing and it's mostly due to a hardware failure.

vinodhad1234,

What model of controller? What version of code?

43C is within normal operating temp.

Per Leo, I agree to check crashinfo.

I have seen two 5508s rebooting or not booting in the last year. Both fixed by disassembling controller to reseat RAM and modules (fan, PS). Another one just a few weeks ago fixed by going from 6.0.199.4 to 7.0.220.0.

Hi All,

I am really thankful for all of you who has shared their Knowledge with me.

As you mentioned ,

Model of controller : 5508

version of code : 7.0.98.218

I think this mentioned version/model of controller should not have any issue since i have same model with same version configured in my set-up as a Anchor controller which does not have any issue at all.

I am keen to know about crashinfo.

How to check the crashinfo ? what is the command for this ?

Please do reply.

Hi All,

Sorry!

I got to know how to check crashinfo from one of the cisco support forum discussion.

CONTROLLER >> MANAGEMENT >> TECH SUPPORT >> CONTROLLER CRASH.

I would paste it soon.

Not able to get the root cause for it.

Please do reply for the same.

Hi,

Can anybody look into this ? Please do reply.

vinodjad1234,

7.0.98.x is not the best code option. Can you upgrade to 7.0.230.0?

If not... it looks like the fault could be related to the location protocol (locp). Try turning off all location related features on the wlc.

Hi ,

Thanks for your reply.

I would better go for upgradation of firmware instead of disabling the location related option.

I would upgrade it and let you know the status.

Once again , thanks for it.
