Hi,
I installed CSM 3.0 in the lab, it seems there has been some progress since the former versions. Nevertheless, there is a severe flaw in CSM 3.0, it cannot handle VRFs. As most serious live networks put their mgmt interface into a VRF, this one flaw is quite severe. Maybe someone from Cisco can fix this asap.

Hi Florian,
"Cisco Software Manager" is an application that doesn't run on a router, it has no VRF context. Can you describe better the symptom that you are observing and the trigger?

Hi,
Sorry maybe I was not clear enough. CSM 3.0 offers the ability to upload and install SMUs and service packs via a repository. It will issue an "admin install add" on the remote host, but the add will fail because it cannot connect to the repository server (as the server can only be found in the mgmt VRF, not the global table).

Eddie,
Can you send me the steps as well? My customer would like to have the repository be accessible by different VRFs. Meaning they have a production VRF, and then they would like to have access to the repository from a Lab VRF.

Another severe bug:
-) Install 5.1.3 SP5 on the host using CSM 3.0
-) Schedule an install -> check for SMUs -> SP5 is correctly recognized -> Service Packs=0
-) Log out of the server and log in again
-) Schedule an install -> check for SMUs -> SP5 is not recognized (Service Packs = 1)

Another bug:
If you create or modify a repository server, you can specify the "remote directory", e.g. "/ios-xr/CSM/". After saving the information, the last "/" is missing, so it was removed from the entry, the display shows "/ios-xr/CSM". This wil fail the install add operation as the directory and the filename is not separated through a slash. A workaround for this bug is to specify two slashes at the end when creating or modifiying the repository server in the web interface, e.g. "/ios-xr/CSM//".

Florian,
your going a bit quick there, its supported. This is an example of how you set CSM3.0 for VRF support under the repository tab..
TFTP Server Path tftp://10.10.10.7;mgmt/asr9k/
File Directory (Used by CSM Server) ;mgmt/asr9k/
