Hello,
We are working on an IWAN solution where dual ISR 4451-X are used at the Hub (DC) as WAN aggregation and at the remote site we have ISR 4331 or ISR 4321or ISR 892FSP.
We are going to implement WAAS and we have few n00b :) questions:
- I understood that the WAAS central manager is required. Can this functionality run on ISR or we need another appliance/VM for this?
- can the same WAN aggregation router act as AppNav-XE and ISR-WAAS without issues? Is this a recommend practice.
- The CVD only mentions ISR 4451, can the ISR 4331 and 4321 be used for ISR-WASS/AppNav-XE at the remote site?
- ISR 892FSP with AppX only supports WAAS Express. Does it mean traffic from these routers will not be optimized? How to go around this?
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Tamassini

Hi,
1) you'll need another (dedicated) appliance or VM (vCM)
2) It can be done, but be aware of sizing guidelines. Whether it is recommended - I haven't been able to find, normally Cisco put them as separate "devices" on their drawings
3) yes they can be used, be aware of Sizing guidelines. btw. ISR-WAAS does not support WCCP
4) WAAS express does some basic optimization, but since it doesn't have/use a disk - it doesn't have the full optimization cababilities.
Best Regards
Finn
