What is happening?
We are changing the value of each Helpful vote to accurately reflect individual impact. Under the old formulas, each individual Helpful vote was recorded and presented as 5 Helpful votes. Under the new formulas, an individual Helpful vote will be presented and display as 1 Helpful vote.
When did this happen?
This went live on February 28th.
Why was this change made? Why did you used to count Helpful votes as 5?
Measuring impact is important, and this was throwing off the scale. This also set our community apart from others in the industry – where a 1:1 Helpful weighting is standard.
Historically the decision was made to count 1 Helpful as 5 as part of a previous merger of separate community platforms. This was always intended to be ‘normalized’ but went overlooked as priorities shifted.
What will the impact be to my Community standing?
There will be no impact to your Community standing.
What else is changing?
We are also changing our Leaderboard components across Community to a consistent 30-day lookback. In addition to being clearer, it will also help with this transition.
