Can the C9300X-12Y accept the entire eBGP routing table

Looking to upgrade to this switch and curious if anyone knows if it can hold the entire public BGP table. On the data sheet I'm showing it has 16GB of RAM but only holds 39000 routes. Does anyone have experience with entry counts above this?

Hello @Joseph E Spoon

Most access or distribution switches, even with high RAM, are not designed for full-scale BGP. A dedicated router or a switch-router hybrid (e.g., Cisco ASR or Nexus platforms) is better suited for this role.

While 16GB of RAM might be sufficient for storing the BGP routing information in the control plane, the hardware forwarding capacity (FIB size) often becomes the limiting factor. In your case, if the datasheet specifies a maximum of 39,000 routes, this is likely referring to the size of the hardware FIB, which would not support the full public BGP table.
