I'm trying to create a support case for TAC, since we found some bugs.
To create a support case you need either a VLN or serial number.
However, the S/N for Catalyst Center for ESXi is just a generated one during installation (string begins with VMware....), and
TAC isn't recognize it. And we can't find any virtual license number (VLN) anywhere in GUI or Smart account.
How do you create a case for CC for ESXi without a VLN or Serialnumber? (or where do I find the "real" serialnumber or VLN?)
Our CC is of course registered and license shown in our Smart account and in CC.
Regards,
J.

Hi J,
The serial number will change every time you spin up a new VA. As such, we don't require the S/N for you to open a TAC case. The only thing that is requires is that you have a DNA level license subscription. Providing that info when opening the case will entitle you to support.

Please take a look at the following documnent and please search for "What does Catalyst Center VA cost?" section
Cisco Catalyst Center VA for ESXi FAQ
https://salesconnect.cisco.com/#/content-detail/f6c71241-4179-4cf2-8344-ed77f86fb6cd
It speaks to the Support Contract requirements for the ESXi Virtual Appliance itself.
"Cisco offers an annual support package for Catalyst Center, and all customers are advised to purchase this optional support. When the software PID (DN-SW-APL) is entered into CCW, this support option will be recommended (CON-ECMUS-DN5SWQA3)."
If you do not have a support contract for the "DN-SW-APL" and the problem is with a "feature" like inventory or provisioning of a device, you would open a TAC case using the Serial Number of the Device that has a DNA License. The DNA license gives you access to Catalyst Center Virtual Appliance software to use and support of the devices that it manages.
