Difference between DR and HA configuration with Catalyst Center

I was wondering if someone could please explain to me the difference between a DR and HA configuration with catalyst center(CC) and if you can have both configured at the same time?  We are currently running a DR configuration in our production environment and I began an upgrade last night starting with the CIMCs(took 7 hours to upgrade both, I don't want to talk about it).  I upgraded the Standby nodes CIMC first and never lost CC access, once I upgraded the Active site though I lost everything.  I would have assumed the Standby site would take over but that wasn't the case.  Any help or clarification in this would be very much appreciated.  Thanks.

DR is used when you have a cluster in one location and a cluster in a separate location.

HA is used between nodes in one cluster

When I say cluster, I refer to a single-node or three-node as they can be both. HA is only used in three-node clusters.

Yes, you can run 3+3+1 DR, which uses two three-node clusters. Each three-node cluster has to be in HA mode to be able to function properly.

In your DR environment, DR should have been paused first before updating the CIMC as this will cause the appliance to reboot. Was DR paused first?
