DNAC Backup location recommendation

Hi,

I know that DNAC configuration backup is done using SSH/SFTP to a linux server. And Assurance backup is done using NFS.

But internally we were discussing if there are any recommendations on where to but the files on the linux server.

We could but them all in the same folder(/srv/share) without issues, but in most cases we place them in different folders.

Looking at the documentation it seems like 3 different people has written the examples as they place the data in different folders.

Are there any recommendations as where to place the backup? Single/different folders? Location for the data? Follow Unix HFS? Cisco TAC recommendations?

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/cloud-systems-management/network-automation-and-management/dna-center/2-2-2/admin_guide/b_cisco_dna_center_admin_guide_2_2_2/b_cisco_dna_center_admin_guide_2_2_2_chapter_0110.html

Documentation examples:

/srv/ - Config example
/var/nfsshare - Assurance example 1
/data/assurance/cluster1 - Assurance example 2

Backup location doesn’t matter as long as you make sure
1. Provide proper read/write access to the backup user.
2. Make sure to have other users can access the backup in case restore operation requires.
3. Backup folder is getting backup at some other place so that you don’t lose the old backup in case of backup server failures.

Thanks

-As long as you have proper permissions, etc. then the location of where to place the backups is totally a preference thing IMO.
