This means the device is booting with .bin file.

And what is the meaning of flash:packages.conf

This means the device Looking for Install mode.

In short convert bundle to install as below ;

#software expand running to flash:

check any boot variable, then remove

(config)#no boot system switch all flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.05.E.XXXX.bin
(config)#boot system switch all flash:running-packages.conf

To understand install mode and bundle mode explained here :

Boot variable string is pointing to the packages.conf file.

Post the complete output to the following command "dir".

Hi

  Please check the dir,

What is this switch?  Is this a production switch or a "lab"?
