Hello,
I would like to downgrade a Cisco Cat9300 switch. The switch is a single stand alone and is in "install mode". I would be installing the .bin file. What command should I use to downgrade the switch and how do I get it back to the current version if something goes wrong during the upgrade?
I'll be copying the .bin file from a tftp server to the switch's flash drive. Any recommendations?
Thank you.

Depends on the model, hardware revision number and the destination firmware version.

Hello @tolinrome tolinrome
Bin file, so you use Bundle mode.
Don'y forget to save your config first.
If something goes wrong during the downgrade, the switch could automatically roll back to the previously installed software version if you have set the rollback timer. If you don't want to wait for the timer, you can manually trigger the rollback using the install commit timer-abort

Its blind approach so manythings go wrong, you may have to break the switch and do RMA
to suggest better give us more information.
1. what IOS XE currently running ?
2, what IOS XE code you looking to downgrade ?
3. what is the need to Downgrade ? (not usual case we here )
4. Downgrading IOS XE - May be all your configuration may not work - so you taking risk here (if this is in production - are you prepare to make change what is not working ?)
5. Downgrading - some time ROMMON Upgrade can not go back ?
6. If you not read the release notes properly - some models of Cat 9300 can not go below the version they shipped due to hardware and IOS XE required start from certain versions.

Its a C9300-48P and on version 16.9.5 in install mode. I would like to downgrade to 16.6.9. I have the .bin file, from which I understand extracts into pkg files.
I would like to know the command to use to make the downgrade and any steps to go back to original settings if something goes wrong.

Is this switch going to be a member of an existing stack?

You can downgrade using install or bundle mode what ever works.
read the release notes for downgrade steps :

No, it's a single switch.

I understand for downgrading to 16.6.9 but I do not understand why the need to go back to Bundle Mode.

I do not want to go to bundle mode. I just want to downgrade 16.6.9.
