Will NX-OS64 work on Nexus 93120TX?

Not that i am aware 10,X support on that model - You can only upgrade 9.3 on that models.

64 only be available on 10.X onwards .

Added 64-bit image support for Cisco Nexus 9000 series switches ending with - EX, -FX, -FX2, -FX3, -GX modules. 32-bit image support are provided for Cisco Nexus 9000 series with – R line cards.

Is this limited by lack of support for beyond 9.3, or hardware shutdown incompatibility?

new NEXUS OS need new compute so the new model has new hardware that support.

so stay with the version suggestion (until you want  break the device and bin it)
