You should atleast work over a jabber for windows 9.2.x version. However please confirm the following from the configuration's perspective:

-> Goto cucm admin page; select user management\ end user \ find and click the user id that you are using for testing.

-> in the controlled device section make sure the deskphone that you are trying to control is listed there ; check by MAC address.

-> in the user management menu\ goto user settings\ check the UC service and see if you have created CTI service ; this should have the ip address and port 2748; your PC should be able to telnet this port.

-> Also make sure that this service is applied to the IM and P service profile which user id is pointing to.

If all is checked and jabber still fails;

check if the you have LDAP authentication in place; for which you will need to make sure that if you are using Microsoft AD server and the ip address in use is a global catalog; then you should use port 3268; if there is a need to make a change then you will need to restart the CTI manager service on call manager server.

-> Also make sure that the end user and deskphone that you are trying to control should have the following option checked "Allow Control of Device from CTI".

-> The end user id in question should also have the following group permissions included;

standard CCM end user.

Standard CTI enabled.

Now if the deskphone that you have to control is a SIP registered phone; please inlcude the following permissions as well;

Standard CTI Allow Control of Phones supporting Connected Xfer and conf

Standard CTI Allow Control of Phones supporting Rollover Mode

Please rate if you find this helpfull.

All the configuration you mentioned are configured .

The only thing that doesn't work is the   telnet

The type of the phone is 7960

you need to make sure that the telnet is working or test it from a PC where this works. As a matter of curiosity the server that you are trying to connect ( cucm node); do you know if the CTI manager service is started there or not. If it is started try to restart ( this will call for downtime) this service and then try the telnet. If this still fails check if there is any firewall or antivirus application in the PC where jabber is installed; you will need to make sure that you exclude the jabber application from these antivirus solution.

i hope this helps.

I have the problem too ... b4 I'm working on the CTI deskphone control, but I just changed the new deskphone, then I logined the Jabber on Windows, that cannot control the new deskphone (CP-7942).

& I checked the above settings ... all is done already ....Why?

The CUCM & CUPS version is 8.0

Thank you for this. Worked like a charm. The part I was missing was at the very end about the SIP registered phones
