CWMS with MS-Exchange

Hi guys

I'm deployment a trial in a customer.

I asked for IT Analyst for  user account in MS-Exchange to integrate with CWMS

  • Host Name–The host name of your SMTP      server.
  • Port–The port number for your SMTP server.
  • User Name–User name for the email      client.
  • Password–Password for the user.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/collaboration/CWMS/b_administrationGuide_chapter_01100.html#concept_12583849E4C54B22BBBC47A1D401A4B0

The IT Analyst asked me if the user account what I need is an user with mailbox in Exchange, xyz@acme.com and if is not possible CWMS work with SMTP relay like Cisco UnityConnection.

Can someone help me?

Hi mate,

My preferred option here is to go with just a relay.

Just leave server authentication unchecked (disabled)

This way you don't need a user with a mailbox.

You do need to ensure your mail server allows your CWMS admin server to relay mail through it.

In Exchange for instance, you can do this by permitting specific IP addresses or subnets to relay.

Cheers,

Tim.

Hi Tim, how are you?

I must show the feature of CWMS for the customer.

Do you known what is differente (restriction) if I use mail relay and if I use server authentication?

Cheers,

Peterson

Hey mate,

Yeah I'm good thanks!

I dont think they will even notice a difference between the two options, it's really a pretty minor insignificant thing.

You need email for sending out the invitations to guests etc. But whether you do it via relay or use server authentication shouldn't make a difference.

I think either way CWMS will send mails from admin@yourwebex.site.com

Cheers,

Tim
