Directory problem with Jabber for Windows

We have recently upgraded Jabber for Windows from 11.5.4 to 11.8.3 and are encountering problems with directory lookup.
The problem occurs when a user places their PC (laptop) into sleep and leaves for the day.
When they return to the office and bring the PC out of sleep, Jabber re-connects but seems to have difficulties resolving names in AD.
The symptoms include:
1. The user's name is show as an email address (JID?)
2. Some contacts are shown as email addresses
3. Can't lookup AD based contact.
4. No chat option available for some contacts.
5. Show Connection status has a green tick on Directory and says last connection was successful
Our environment is as follows:
CUCM: 11.0.1.21900-11
IM & P: 11.0.1.10000-6.1.10000
Jabber: 11.8.3

My advice would be to read the following article and to update your directory uc service for jabber accordingly.
