Expressway X12.5 and CUCM v10.5

Recently attempted to upgrade an Expressway doing MRA to X12.5 and after upgrade, MRA stopped working.  Expressway logs all looked fine when clients trying to connect. Haven't had any similar problems at other deployments upgrading to Expressway X12.5, but CUCM here is v10.5 - is there an incompatibility between Expressway X125. and CUCM v10.5?

Thanks.

Hi there,

The easiest way to check the Cisco Collaboration  product compatibility is to go here: https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/uc_system/unified/communications/system/Compatibility/CSR-Compatibility-Matrix-InteractiveHTML.html
When you select CSR 12.5 and navigate to Expressway, you will see that there is no minimal version so it's possible that it will not work. (for other releases, minimal version is provided).

Thanks for the reply Marek. I don't find the CSR Compatibility Matrix particularly intuitive to read. I've got deployments where Expressway X12.5 is working fine in front of CUCM v11.5.1, but this scenario suggests there's a problem with v10.5. CSR Compatibilty Matrix wouldn't tell me either of these as it is. Surely it should be a clearly stated in the X12.5 documentation what UC application versions work and/or are supported?

I totally agree with you that interoperability should be directly pointed out and that everything should be clear for the customer (at least the product is still under support). But this is life ;D

I did some research and this might be something worth to track. If you look at the Expressway (xWay) 12.5 Release notes (https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/expressway/release_note/Cisco-Expressway-Release-Note-X12-5.pdf) in the Interoperability section, you will find the changes that Cisco did in version 11.5 and xWay 8.7. I suppose this might be the case that you deal with.

And last but not least - on the Telepresentec Expressway Interoperability Database (https://tp-tools-web01.cisco.com/interop/d298/s1581) version 12.5 is poorly described. But if you change the version of xWay to X8.11 you will see that the supported CUCM version is 11.5.

Such is life indeed Marek :-) Thank you once again for your time.

I had looked at the Interoperability database, here's hoping that the information for X12.5 (which has now been out for a year) is made available soon.
