I am sure this has been asked before but I cannot find an appropriate answer. We have remote users that connect to our Call Manager 8.5 system with a physical phone using the ASA Proxy. Can we do the same with the Jabber clients or do remote users need to VPN into the office from their phones?

You need anyconnect or another VPN solution, you might also look into Collaboration Edge.

my advise; don't go there, the product isnt maturure enough, especailly in terms of support for Androids.
